A second Japan Sound Portrait, this one submitted by Laurent Fintoni after being prompted to rediscover his catalogue of field recordings from time spent living in Tokyo. This recording of the shops and arcades of the unique Akihabara district is 7 years old, posing interesting questions about how many of these sounds it would be possible to find in the same place today. This is a good example of how we believe Japan Sound Portrait will be helping to preserve little sound capsules of cultural heritage.
This is exactly the type of track that we hope to be able to produce in greater quantities after receiving more crowd-sourced submissions from people throughout Japan, to then be made available on a USB stick, or embedded on a T-shirt, or on limited edition vinyl, or loaded onto a Sound Bento Speaker. So if you would like us to be able to create more of these kind of tracks by visiting Japan to encourage more people to send in their sounds, then please make a contribution to our Indiegogo campaign here
